The discussion about which are the best winter boots may not be applicable to those who live in parts of the country where the weather doesn’t get really nasty in winter, but then again, who doesn’t like a new pair of them?
Just because they are called winter boots, doesn’t mean that’s the only time you can wear them. And if weather looks a lot like summer where you live, but they are your style, then why not?
In fact, women’s footwear are as varied as the winter weather. So there is bound to be something for every taste.
UGG Australia Womens Conor Studs. Style Conscious.

UGG are one of those brands that seems to be mentioned everywhere now and while they aren’t the cheapest brand on the market, they are stylish and packed with quality.
These particular ones are from their New Orleans street-chic style and are finished with Conor Studs’ Lafitte Blacksmith Hammered stud detail. The footwear sit at mid-calf, are made from leather, and has real fur accents, so watch out for the wet as this can spoil the effect.

My1stWish Womens Quilted Ladies Buckle Grip Sole Zip

They are probably between style conscious and warm feet – they have the sleek finished look to them with the fur cuff around the calf and buckle around the ankle. They also have good grip on the outer sole and cover the legs up to 12inches.

Warm Feet. Helly Hansen Women’s W Skuld 3 Boot

Helly Hansen aim for high quality gear, which has the look but does the job as well. They are ideal for cold weather as they are fleece lined with a rubber sole and leather uppers.
They are waterproof so can really withstand the snow and have the Helly Grip that is designed to work in the wet with no slipping.

Sorel Women’s Caribou Boot. All Weather, All Terrain

These are the kind of footwear you would want if you live somewhere that seems plenty of snow, ice and maybe you need to be away from the paved roads occasionally.
These are completely practical boots, which still look the part but are rated to -40 degrees. They are made from leather with a rubber sole and substantial grip on it and are water proof.
Looking at this model, the name makes perfect sense; they look like hard wearing, winter blankets that will keep your feet toasty warm.
They also featured a water and stain resistant cover on the wool so while they look like they would just absorb the wet, that won’t be the case. The outer sole is moulded rubber with a pressed felt midsole for comfort. The footwear fasten with adjustable D-ring closures.

What are Snow Boots?
One thing you might wonder when perusing these reviews may be what is the difference between a boot and a snow boot? One thing is that snow boots are generally heavier than footwear because not everyone has snow in winter so therefore may not need the heaviest boot.
Snow boots may not be as fashionable as footwear but if you are facing good amounts of snow and really harsh temperatures, these are the ones to go for.
Manufacturers give them a temperature rating (the ones above were -40degrees for example) and often advice if they are for heavy cold weather activity.
Ideally, footwear will reach above the hem of your pants to stop snow getting inside the boot. Sealed seams are important and the boots are usually made from leather or nylon. Either a fleece collar or cuff is often added or a drawstring closure to help make sure the cold doesn’t sneak inside.
The soles of this type of boots are made from a material such as rubber which is 100% waterproof. This also means they can be cleaned really easily by simply hosing or rinsing.

Ice grips
An additional area to consider if you encounter snow but more so ice during winter could be ice grips. These are special products you buy separately from your boots that come in a whole range of shapes and sizes. They usually either hook over the front and rear of the shoes or sometimes are held in black by Velcro or elastic straps.
Ice grips vary from a simple chain-type set up to something that resembles a second outer sole. But they are ideal if you love a particular pair of them but are a little unsure if they will have the adequate level of grip for the weather conditions you will be facing. Even if your boots have a great grip but you have had bad experiences in the ice, these can help give you that extra bit of courage to face the worst the winter will throw at you.
